I began acquiring Jackson’s library long before he was a twinkle in our eye, long before I met my husband, and long before I was ready to have a child. I have always loved books and knew I would spend countless hours reading to my children one day. Books are special. They spark our imagination, give us the opportunity to escape to faraway places and immerse ourselves in magical worlds.
As the seasons change, I find myself reaching for different stories that match. In the spring, I gravitate towards books about the outdoors, gardening and animals. Here are some of our favorites that would make the perfect addition to an Easter basket!

Miss Rumphius is my all time favorite children’s book about a woman who promises to make the world a more beautiful place.
The Velveteen Rabbit is a beautiful story about a rabbit that was made real by a little boy’s love. We even used a quote from this book as a reading at our wedding.
Otis is a book I discovered since Jackson was born about a little tractor who saves the day.
Mommy Loves You stole my heart with the cutest illustrations. There is even a spot at the back of the book to write a letter to your child! Don’t forget to check out Daddy/Grandma/Grandpa Loves You also!
Frog and Toad are Friends is a classic tale of friendship.
You Are My Sunshine is the well known song written into a board book. All of Caroline Jayne Church’s books are sweet and perfect for those little babes.
Make Way For Ducklings will surely steal your heart whether you love Boston or not! Don’t miss the Make Way for Ducklings statue next time you visit Boston’s Public Garden.
The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be is a lovely illustrated book about creativity and individuality.
Guess How Much I Love You… right up to the moon and back. The story of endless love between little Nutbrown Hare and his daddy.
The Complete Adventures of Peter Rabbit. This classic story about a mischievous rabbit is one of the best-selling children’s books of all time and over 100 years old!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar helps to teach children how a butterfly becomes.
Little Blue Truck’s Springtime. Read about Little Blue Truck’s springtime adventures.
We Are the Gardeners is going to make it’s way into Jackson’s Easter basket this year. I’ve never read it but love Joanna Gaines and can’t wait!
Happy Spring and happy reading!
Love, Jessica
