With our world seemingly spinning out of control, it’s easy to get lost in the whirlwind. To neglect the things that matter most in our lives. To not make time to enjoy the beauty surrounding us.
But you must keep yourself grounded.
For me, nature is how I cleanse my soul, how I stay grounded. Breathing in fresh air, the sound of the forest, the coming and going of the sun, the crashing waves of the ocean, the smell of pine and morning dew. It’s better than any medicine. Recently the night sky has intrigued me.
Since the beginning of time, mankind has been fascinated by a starry night sky. They have been the sparkling lights that guide our journeys. They have been wishing wells. They have reminded us that our late loved ones are still looking down upon us. A starry sky is awe-inspiring, beautiful and all together mysterious. It reminds us just how infinitely small we are.
The other night, my husband and I parked on the edge of a large field, laid on the top of our Jeep and watched the stars. I can’t remember the last time I really looked up into the night sky. It’s magical. I laid there and let my mind and imagination wander.. to think we are each simply tiny specks of cells, sitting on a giant planet which is spinning around an even more giant sun in the middle of a galaxy so unfathomably large.. it’s pretty wild.
I left the field that night feeling small and humbled. My problems didn’t feel so important anymore but my possibilities seemed endless. I hope you find time to look at the stars more often and appreciate the magic surrounding us.
