“… trying to remember if he knew he was happy the same time the happiness was going on.” – from Love the Coopers
This quote is a narration of an older man (Sam Cooper) pondering his younger, happier years and it stuck with me.
How often do we just get through our days that quickly accumulate into our weeks and our months and eventually our life and never really stop to soak them in? How often do we actually take a moment to appreciate our loved ones while they’re still by our side, our children while they’re still small, our health and youth, our happiness? If you’re like most humans, probably hardly ever. And what a shame this is.
We’re likely smack in the middle of a wonderful stage of our lives… one that we’ll look back on one day and miss. And sometimes we just need a gentle reminder to open our eyes and realize these are the “good ol’ days”. To slow down and appreciate these moments. To know our happiness at the same time our happiness is going on.
So, if you needed it too, here’s your reminder.
Love, Jessica
