If you ever find yourself questioning whether there is magic in this world, whether there is a God or some higher power, whether miracles can happen.. watch a sunset. Some nights the horizon looks like it’s ablaze. Some nights sherbet and cotton candy colors dance through the sky. Some nights the clouds give us a glimpse of an entry into the heavens. Every sunset is so different, yet so profoundly beautiful and humbling. And it doesn’t matter how many times I watch the same sun set.. each time that ball of fire leaves me awe struck.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen many of my sunset photos (and if you don’t follow me, you should @ LoveJessica_blog). Sunsets make me happy. They make me feel alive. They make me feel small. They make me believe in magic and miracles. And I will forever continue chasing as many as I can. So should you.
My husband and I have been trying really hard to take advantage of the remaining sweet summer days we have left before the seasons change. Friday night, we had no plans and decided to spend the evening hiking instead of sitting on the couch. It turned out to be one of my favorite nights in a really long time. We packed up our girls, headed to Wachusett Mountain and made it to the top just in time to watch the setting sun.
If you live in Central Massachusetts, I highly recommend doing this.. or you can drive to the top (but that’s not nearly as rewarding). Because one of our pups is getting old, we opted for the shortest trail (pine hill trail) which is only about 3/4 miles to the top but there are some slightly longer options also. On a clear evening, pack some drinks, snacks and a flashlight (for the hike back down) and enjoy an amazing summer night.
Regardless of where you live, make time to watch the sunset every once in awhile. It’s fleeting beauty will leave you speechless and take your breath away. As the last rays of daylight set over the horizon, the promise of a new day with endless possibilities awaits.
