Adventure is defined as an unusual and exciting activity often involving unknown risks. For some, that may be simply getting off the couch and going for a walk. For others, an adventure may be an activity that makes your heart race or your stomach drop. Adventure is a relative term but summertime gives us all a sense of creativity and spontaneity. The long days and endless possibilities lay the perfect foundation for limit pushing and risk taking.
Over my lifetime, adventure has come in many shapes and sizes. I’ve jumped out of airplanes, built my own farm one animal at a time, roamed the streets of Paris, swam with dolphins, started new jobs, climbed mountains, biked in rainstorms and loved another human with my entire heart and soul. My list of adventures could go on forever and they won’t end until my dying day because, to me, they make life worth living. Adventures big and small bring me joy, teach me lessons and fill my soul.
Although I always try to live life to the fullest, this month my goal is to be more acutely aware and intentional in my decisions each day. To continue taking those adventures I love so dearly. To step outside my comfort zone and try something new. To explore new places and meet new people. To revisit a hobby I’ve neglected along the way. To live. Together, let’s bring adventure to the forefront of our lives and make them the theme of our month.
