I discovered my love for blogging in a dreadful biology lab during college. I spent my summers and between class hours bored out of my mind playing scientist and quickly realizing that, although my college degree was about to be in “biology and biotechnology,” working as a “biologist” was definitely not for me. But it was a job and resume builder and also afforded me a lot of down time between projects which I used to start my first blog. I quickly began spending more of my work hours blogging than actually doing whatever it is a biologist is supposed to do and fell in love. Writing became an outlet for me and 15 years later I’m still writing a blog (when I find the time).
I’m sure you all have goals that you set for yourself in life… big ones that may take years and years to accomplish. Whether we do this subconsciously or not, we all have them. For me, one of those big goals was to write a book. I had no idea how that book would come to be but I guess I always assumed it would be some sort of chapter book for adults. That was until I had two little babies that changes my world. And while I’ve played with different children’s book ideas for quite some time, one day it all just came together. My husband and I were driving around with our two little boys sleeping in the backseat and this entire book just came to me.
I watched my boys resting peacefully, safely, and untainted and I suddenly had this urge to write a book for them. To express these little life lessons and words of wisdom to them and every child that picks up my book. To remind them to slow down and appreciate all of the simple pleasures we are blessed with. To encourage them to play and never lose their childlike sense of excitement and wonder. And also to remind us parents that these days are precious and fleeting and the most important thing we have to do in our day is be present for our kids.
This book is so special to me in many ways but especially all of the beautiful images. Each picture is a replica of an actual photo of my children/family and it warms my heart when my two year old sees the book, points to pictures and says, “me, bra-bra, mama, dada.” It’s special.
So I’d be honored if you consider purchasing my sweet little book (Stay Wild) for your family and friends and I hope it becomes a beloved story you read time and time again.
Happy reading!
